What we are

Affiliation

We are the BC/Yukon branch of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada (RHSC).

History

The Branch had its beginnings at the home of Robert Watt in North Vancouver in February of 1982.  There were thirteen Society members at that first meeting, at a time when there were no Society branches.  Robb later became the first Chief Herald of Canada and retired in the Summer of 2007.  (For more information on our early history, please see the article "Branch Beginnings" in the Spring 2017 issue of the Blazon, listed in the Blazon section of this site.)  Since then, we have remained a vibrant part of the RHSC and have grown to about forty branch members.

Goals

The branch is dedicated to fostering an understanding, appreciation, and use of the noble craft, art, and tradition of heraldry in British Columbia and the Yukon.

Activities

In furtherance of our goals, the branch publishes The BC/Yukon Blazon, a twice yearly colourful newsletter covering some of the latest and most interesting news of heraldry in the Yukon, British Columbia, and from around the world.  The Branch also has an annual black-tie dinner supplemented with one or more luncheon meetings throughout the year.  Heraldic exhibits and talks are presented at various times as a further method of sharing heraldry with the community.

If you would like to take part in some or all of these activities and would like to join us, please see our Membership page.
