2010 Branch Lunch and Annual General Meeting     




Branch AGM


The AGM was held on Saturday, March 27th, at the Days Inn in Nanaimo. 
 
Upon entering the meeting area, members encountered the Canadian Heraldry panel, part of Laurie Patten's heraldic display project.  Behind the main panel was a series of other panels with displays of Canadian granted arms and reproductions of pages from A Canadian Heraldic Primer.

 
Arms of Laurie Patten As members assemble for the lunch and meeting, Laurie has the most umpleasant task of talking about heraldry to a bevy of beautiful teenaged girls.
Meanwhile, some complicated, nefarious deal is going on off to the side.

Arms of Christopher Mackie

After a great lunch of a variety of soups, sandwiches, cheeses and desserts, Christopher Mackie presents his second installment of Canadian Heraldic Law, entitled Heraldic Birthright.  He contrasted the British and Canadian laws regarding the inheritance of arms and ended with ideas pertaining to clauses that might be added to wills.





After the Heraldic Birthright presentation, the president, Carl Larsen, makes his annual report.  He notes that: Arms of Carl Larsen
  • finances are good.
  • the branch is continuing support for Laurie's display project.
  • the Blazon had a successful year and expects that the coming year will also be a success.
  • the Blazon archive project is progressing.
  • the website is mostly done.
He then announces that he is stepping down and gives the recommendations of the nomination committee.  There being no further nominations, he declares all positions acclaimed.  The new board is as follows: Arms of John Neill Arms of Carl Larsen
