This year's dinner was held on Saturday, October 23rd, at the Grand Hotel Nanaimo. Here is a view of the Branch's heraldic display (Laurie Patten's ongoing project) as one passes it upon entering the dining area. Next is a photo of the dining area.
Members and guests start arriving and begin chatting. Shortly afterwards, the guest of honour, the Hon. Iona Campagnolo, arrives and is greeted by the Branch executive.
After a very good meal, the Hon. Iona Compagnolo gives a very interesting keynote speech outlining her views on the value of heraldry and on the past and possible future accomplishments of the Society.
Next, our master heraldic craftsman Laurie Patten makes a presentation of a very fine heraldic book to Iona.
National vice-president and past Branch president Carl Larsen presents to David Ruddy the national past president certificate.
David receives another certificate, this time for being a past Branch president, presented by Branch president John Neill.
David begins spinning some yarns.
John gives out another past president certificate, this time to Laurie Patten.
John cannot stop himself from giving out certificates. This time it is to Carl Larsen, again for being a past president.
