This year our branch had a special venue for our Annual General Meeting, the Union Club in Victoria, on March 10th.
Members are preparing for the annual general meeting.
Here is the buffet area.
Branch president Steve Cowan welcomes members to the AGM.
Dr. Andrew Andersen proceeds on a talk about East European heraldry.
Steve presents to Andrew a table shield as a token of the Branch's appreciation for his talk.
A proud new armiger shows off his grant documents.
Here is a closer look at the documents: the graphic depiction, the Letters Patent, and the symbolism explanation.
This is a further close-up of the badges heading the Letters Patent. The badges represent the Governor General, the Queen, and the Canadian Heraldic Authority. Those musical notes that you see are not random notes. They are the opening to the second movement of Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D Minor, a favorite of Her Excellency.
After Andrew's presentation, Steve opened the meeting and gave his annual report, noting reduced activity for 2017 and giving an update on the Lawrence J. Patten Heraldry Exhibit venue situation. This was followed by the treasurer's report, given by our treasurer, Don Mayers.
Next, Gary Mitchell took over to conduct the selection of the board for the coming year. Since there was only one nomination for each position, all positions were filled by acclamation. Last year, one director position was vacant, but is now filled by Darren George. The new board is shown below:
